HATIRAS BIOGRAPHY:
Hatiras is one of the planet’s most prolific and enduring house music artists. He started off as a party promoter in the late 90’s and was a big part of Toronto, Canada’s early rave scene with his highly successful Liquid Adrenaline events. He organized over 50 parties attended by up to 10,000 people in creative warehouse venues, airplane hangars, roller rinks, retired nightclubs, bingo halls and more.
At the time, artists such as Daft Punk, Erick Morillo and Basement Jaxx inspired Hatiras to invest in music production equipment. It wasn’t long before he produced a demo album of funky, bangin, filtered disco-house that was quickly signed to Chicago’s International House Records by legendary DJ Bad Boy Bill.

His energetic, intergalactic and unique brand of pumping house music took off quickly. His third record, Liquid Adrenaline Sessions 3 contained a song that became one of the highest selling and most played records of the time. The song, titled “Spaced Invader” was Hatiras’ entrance into the big leagues of electronic music. It was licensed to the UK’s Defected Records, endorsed by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong as “essential new tune” twice, remixed by heavy hitters Olav Basoski, Darren Emerson and others; it even had a wildly popular and genre-changing drum and bass remix by J-Majik. Every DJ from the Chemical Brothers and Danny Tenaglia to Roger Sanchez now played Hatiras music.

The success of Hatiras’ sound led to a huge demand in worldwide touring, press and productions for artists like pop sensation Kylie Minogue, disco legend Loleatta Holloway and labels including Ministry of Sound, Sony, Universal Music and more. He produced his debut full length album “Arrival” (a hugely popular triple pack vinyl release) and featured on over half a million sold units of various compilations, remixes and releases. By 2001, he won his first Juno Award (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy’s) and a Socan Award for most radio play. His travels took him to headlining shows in Japan, Colombia, the UK, across Canada and the US. There wasn’t a place on earth that hadn’t been touched by his sound.

In 2003 Hatiras formed his own record label “Blow Media”. His first release, “The Hit n’ Run” EP featured the Juno nominated, hit single “Money Shot”. Through this vehicle Hatiras continued to release music earning him a second Juno Award for the song “Spanish Fly” and half a dozen more nominations for best dance music single over the years. He launched his “Electronic Love” series of compilations and worked closely with established artists such as DJ Dan and Messinian to produce the hits “Love For The Weekend” and “Baked From Scratch”. He also nurtured and launched a dozen new artists including releasing music by Adam K, Macca, Kid Massive, Chris Kaeser, Hirshee, Jeff Daniels and others. His label Blow Media, quickly became one of the hottest, and highest selling house music labels of the time. But Hatiras wasn’t finished yet.

BY 2008, bogged down by the administrative duties that come with running a big record label, Hatiras decided to start a second, boutique label: Hatrax Records. The label, which endures today with over 50 releases, introduced the world to many hit collaborations by Hatiras and MC Flipside including “Get Blahsted”, “Autograph”, “Just The Tip” and “Donkey Punch”, and “SpeakerHumper” by Hatiras and Jelo. He also released his “Crazy Nights, Neon Lights” album and toured globally in support of that. In 2010, Hatiras released the 10 year anniversary remix pack of “Spaced Invader” which included remixes by Olav Basoski, JFK of MSTRKRFT, Santiago & Bushido, Tim Healey and Hot Mouth. 2012 saw a series of solo productions and collaborations with artists such as Nom De Strip and Will Bailey. His singles “Roman Bromanski”, “The Nothing”, “Swagnum P.I” and “Saucy” have all been spotted in the playlists of the biggest names in the business including The Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5 and David Guetta.
Besides all of this, Hatiras somehow finds time to produce his internationally syndicated radio show “Hatiras Presents”. He continues to tour globally, releases a constant onslaught of music and has recently gotten back into the party promoting game with his zany “Madhouse Monday” parties and “Pussy Patrol” brand.

What’s next for Hatiras? Well, to put it lightly, the man is a prolific, multi-talented and constantly evolving beast. Stay tuned for more creations by Hatiras, more parties, more touring, and download all kinds of crazy Hatiras music from iTunes, Beatport and most other online shops.

BIG CHOCOLATE

California-native, Big Chocolate has been on top of the game as of late, with the #1 song on Beatport on the Hip Hop/Trap charts for over 4 weeks and big time slots with DJ’s like Zeds Dead, Adventure Club and Big Gigantic. He is as incessantly prolific as he is multi-faceted, cranking out destructive electro beats, hyper aware video blogs and hotly sought-after remixes in equal measure.

KILL PARIS

Kill Paris is another California boy who’s also been busy with shows all over the U.S. alongside Zedd, Alvin Risk, Alex Metric and more! He brings new meaning to a live DJ and Producer. Utilizing the capabilities of Ableton Live and his own custom controllers, Kill Paris plays and loops Bass, Guitar, Synth, and drum beats all while mixing in and out of songs. Fusing together Electro-House, Dubstep, and Guitar/bass Funk, Kill Paris is definitely one to keep your ear on.

JELO

Jelo is a hard-hitting Electro/Tech House Producer from Canada who has led the electronic music scene in Toronto for the last decade. He has remixed and co-produced with some of the world’s best, like Kevin Drew from Broken Social Scene, Hatiras, and Deadmau5, and as many Bay Area burners know, Jelo absolutely crushed it at Burning Man this last summer. To keep it short and sweet–you can’t not dance when you hear Jelo’s music.

Dust-Off with Hybrid Soundsystem 2012

Saturday, September 15, 2012

10:00PM – Late

Public Works

161 Erie Street, San Francisco 94103

Hybrid Biography

Since first bursting onto the scene with the now classic album Wide Angle in 1999, the Swansea, Wales-based Hybrid have been known as one of the most forward thinking and technically skilled acts in electronic dance music.

For an act as enduring and versatile as Hybrid, with a career that spans more than 13 years and four albums, it should come as little surprise to find that live performance comes in many shapes and sizes. While the full Hybrid Live show has rocked festival stages and concert halls worldwide, with a line-up ranging from the band’s core three members to a full philharmonic orchestra, the Hybrid Soundsystem takes things right back to their gritty roots – one man, at the beating heart of the dancefloor.

But this is not just any DJ set. Already an accomplished DJ in his own right, with the Hybrid Soundsystem Chris Healings takes things one step beyond the turntables, bringing you a whole new way to experience the group’s trademark musical fusion. Whether it’s through brand new productions and remixes, re-edits of classic numbers or tracks taken from their record label Kill City, the Soundsystem show brings you the clubbier side of Hybrid in exactly the way it was always intended, but never before realised.

With a remix résumé featuring the likes of UNKLE, Doves, Guy J, Elite Force, Losers and Radiohead, HSS productions combine energetic drums, sweeping orchestral manoeuvres and snarling, visceral bass to create a sound that’s at once epic and uplifting, yet with a dark, brooding undercurrent. Taking influences from across the dance music spectrum and twisting them into something resolutely fresh and unclassifiable, this is where the boundaries come down and the rulebook lies in tattered remains. Think you know Hybrid? Think again. This is the Hybrid Soundsystem.
